Today we live with with innovations that push our thinking about what is possible. Dr. Martine Rothblatt—Chairman & Co-CEO of United Therapeutics Corporation, and President & CEO of its Lung Biotechnology public benefit company—is one of the people leading this charge.
Television journalist and former CNN White House correspondent Jessica Yellin sat down with Dr. Rothblatt to get a glimpse into her history of innovation, and vision for organ growth and transplantation, artificial intelligence and so much more.
Dr. Rothblatt's patented inventions cover aspects of satellite radio, prostacyclin biochemistry and cognitive software. Her most recent books are on xenotransplantation (Your Life or Mine) and cyber-ethics (Virtually Human). Prior to her work at United Therapeutics, Dr. Rothblatt created and led Sirius XM as its Chairman & CEO. She has JD and MBA degrees from UCLA, and a Ph.D. in Medical Ethics from the Royal London School of Medicine & Dentistry.
"Eventually advances in software will rise to a level of cognitive intelligence or artificial consciousness. At that time it will be hard to know if the software is alive without a body or if it’s just really fancy programming."
